Lighting Designer & Event Technician
Blake Huntley is an Southern California based Lighting Designer and Live Event Technician. While he specializes in lighting for theatre and dance, Blake has knowledge in many facets of the live entertainment industry, including scenic design and construction, lighting design and electrics, audio design and systems, video and projections mapping, and systems networking.
As a graduate and Production Studio Assistant at Chapman University, Blake has designed and built numerous productions for the University, from dance to opera to theatre. As a 2019 Orange County School of the Arts graduate in the Production Design Conservatory, Blake has designed and consulted for many productions around Orange County, CA. In addition to his freelance production endeavors, Blake currently serves as a Production Technician and Designer for the Orange County School of the Arts, where he mentors students in numerous aspects of theatre production.
"As an artist, I strive to recognize what is little considered or taken for granted in a space. Passion projects of mine intend to highlight this shadow, bringing newer stories to life, while reshaping older narratives to see more and something different. Through lighting for theatre and the design of immersive entertainment, I look to uncover those worlds lost or hidden. Whether it be a magical neon infused forest filled with mythical fairies amid a dynamic power struggle, or simply accenting the corner of a room with a unique texture of light, my work is both with- and in the shadows." | Blake Huntley
